Two cases of volvulus of the small intestine were experienced in the Dept. of ST. Paul¢¥s Hospital, Catholic Medical Center.
The one was considered by adhesion due to intestinal tuberculosis and the other was unknown cause.
The final diagnosis could be made by exploration, but simple flat abdomen of X-Ray checking revealed that of mechanical ileus with multiple fluid levels and distended intestinal Iumen.
In the one, manual reduction of rotated intestinal loop was perfomed and in the other, segmental resection of affected intestinal loop was performed.
In addition to it¢¥s etiologic and predisposing factor, diagnosis and treatment were discussed.
